Youth

We believe young people should have faith!
Lessons emphasized in Wednesday night Youth group and Sunday School stress the importance of becoming a Christ-Follower, a person who’s relationship with Jesus Christ results in a transformed life. Once the relationship has begun, we are committed to providing as many venues as possible for that faith to thrive.

We believe young people should have fun!
From fundraising to community service to just spending time together, SHEF Church’s youth program is fun! Whether the group is together working on a moving project, helping with the community food drive, or serving on a mission team, the events are fun to be a part of. Real-life Christianity is not dry or boring and neither are our youth activities!

SHEFC Youth Have Fun

We believe young people should have impact!
Jesus Christ was a servant-leader and we believe our young people should be aware of the needs around them and be provided with ways to serve. Helping collect food for the KOTA Care and Share Food Drive and participating in World Vision’s 30-Hour Famine are annual events for SHEF Church’s youth.

We believe young people can advance the kingdom right now!
Ephesians 2:10 reads: “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” God equips us ALL for good works designed to advance His kingdom and young people are no exception! That’s why our church is committed to taking a team annually to participate in the Bridging Urban Missions Project (B.U.M.P.) in the Twin Cities. B.U.M.P. trips show our youth that they can impact people with the gospel no matter what their age and allow them to develop leadership skills while participating in a missions experience.

B.U.M.P.Each year our youth are given the opportunity to serve on a short-term mission team with the EFCA known as B.U.M.P. It is an experience designed to empower local, inner-city churches by providing resources to reach their community and raise up our youth as emerging servant-leaders. The participating students travel to the Twin Cities in Minnesota and conduct a Vacation Bible School at an inner-city church. The students help build a bridge from the church to the local, urban community, experience God in a new environment, gain an understanding of the issues facing inner-cities, and develop leadership skills to last a lifetime! It challenges and stretches them to serve God and spread the gospel to hurting people in need.

30-Hour Famine – DO SOMETHING!
30-Hour FamineSponsored by World Vision, the 30-Hour Famine is an annual event designed to help kids “get a taste of hunger,” raise funds to help feed starving children, and reach out to help those in the local community. By participating in the famine, our youth learn:

  • It only takes $1/day can feed a hungry child elsewhere in the world!
  • To share the experience of going to bed hungry!
  • How little it takes to give and make a difference!
  • That serving others can be fun!
