The Martin family has been heavily involved in the work and ministry of Southern Hills EFC. Over the past year they took that love and passion to Papua New Guinea. Find out how you can be a part of this experience by reading their most recent newsletter:

Dear 50/50 Partners, Family and Friends,

We have been home in Hot Springs, South Dakota, for almost two months!  Hard to believe that we had been away for a year, so much about our town has stayed the same.  It has been a great blessing to find our home in good repair, thanks to our friend and sister in Christ, B. J. Hunter, who lived here during our absence.  We thank God for her, and for all the folks from our church family that helped so faithfully when the pipes broke, the house flooded, and all of those other problems came up, big and small, while we were away.

Our adult kids who made it here for Christmas (Josh and Rachel) have gone home to Chadron, Nebraska, and Becca is back at Frontier School of the Bible in LaGrange, Wyoming.  In January, Miriam went to California for a week to attend her nephew’s wedding, and spent some time with her brother and two of her sisters (Ken is very happy to have her home again.)  Our miniature Dachshund, Mojo, is back home, and is faithfully guarding the house against all potential intruders (he thinks he is a Rottweiler).  Many thanks to the Montiels for being a family to him while we were away.

Sam and Jesse are adjusting to homeschooling again, and Miriam is providing daycare for the four-year-old son of a dear sister from church.  Miriam helps with a Bible Study group for Lakota women in Pine Ridge that meets every other week, and we attend a mid-week BLT (Body Life Team), while our sons are at their Youth Group.  Ken is not working yet, but is having some promising job interviews.  Please pray with us as he continues to seek employment near Hot Springs.  For now, he is keeping busy with home maintenance, winterizing and cutting firewood.  Aside from that, we are trying not to take on too much, too quickly.  It would be very easy to over-extend ourselves.  In PNG, we were very busy all the time, and now we need space in our lives to see what God is doing next.

As we were preparing to leave Ukarumpa, we gave some colorful PNG pre-stamped airmail envelopes to Pastor John Poning and his wife, Wannie.  A few days ago one came back to us in the mail (only a month to deliver- not too bad!)  They are doing well at their home in the mountains near Mt. Hagen, and had a very busy Christmas season with the big Krismas Lotu (basically an old-fashioned Camp Meeting where many of the district churches come together for days of worship and teaching).  Please pray with us that we will find ways to be supportive of their ministry there, especially the ACE School at Kamuka PNG Bible Church.

Sunday evening, January 22nd, we got to share stories and pictures of our year in PNG with our church family at the Southern Hills Evangelical Free Church, in Hot Springs.  Sunday morning, January 29th, we are scheduled to do a presentation at the Fairburn Community Church.  We are excited for the opportunity to express our thanks for their faithful support.

We want to say “THANK YOU” to all of our supporters, especially our 50/50 partners, who have been so faithful with your prayers and financial support.  We trust that God has prospered you as you have given for our ministry over the past year.  It is our hope that our letters and pictures have blessed you as well, and that you will go on to find other ways of equipping believers around the world to get God’s word out to “the least, the last, and the lost”.
